Get Trained.  Go Run.

Go Run is a two day training dedicated to demystify the political process and inspire a richly diverse group of women to join the leadership pipeline. Go Run provides the nuts and bolts of running for political office by focusing on areas like communications, fundraising, and campaigning - skills you can use in your work and in your community today and up to the day you decide to run!

Meet and Hear from Marie Wilson, President and Founder of The White House Project.

She was also the first woman elected to the Des Moines City Council. “The White House Project is inspired when women from all walks of life realize that they are part of a larger network of women. When they join the public debate and enter the ranks of leadership in business, politics, and culture; and when they claim their citizenship, their voice, and their role in shaping the future of this country. Get to this training and get ready to be inspired and take your seat at the head of the table!”

file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/tlittle/Desktop/temp/peggy.jpg Peggy Flanagan is an experienced organizer and advocate currently serving as the Deputy Director of Training for Wellstone Action, National Field Director for Native Vote, and Member of the National Congress of American Indians. She was also elected to the Minneapolis School Board in 2004 and is the first Native American to serve on that body.  Peggy’s expertise is bolstered by her first-hand experience running for office!

LG LG Shanklin-Flowers is a president and principle consultant at InReach, a human resource management consulting firm.  LG also works as Program Manager for The Women’s Fund of Greater Milwaukee where she oversees the grantmaking program and works closely with both the African American Women's Fund Project and Latinas en Accíon to further their growth. LG will share fundraising knowledge gained in part from her participation in the Women of Color International Development Incubator, a program of the Women’s Funding Network that is designed to accelerate the success of women of color in fundraising.

file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/tlittle/Desktop/temp/hang.jpg Pakou Hang is a professional consultant and provides training to grassroots organizations across the country.  Recently, she was the Minnesota Field Director for America Votes, a national political organization dedicated to engaging voters in the political process and winning a progressive majority. In 2001 she served as the campaign manager for State Senator Mee Moua’s successful electoral bid, and was deputy political director for the late Senator Paul Wellstone’s re-election campaign.

SarahSarah D. Noble, a Milwaukee native, is a Community Organizer in Public Affairs with Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, focusing on justice issues disproportionately affecting the African-American community.  Sarah was also Campaign Manager for now State Representative Tamara D. Grigsby during the 2004 elections.  She is a board member for two youth serving organizations, the Latino Community Center and Urban Underground.  She was named Youth Worker of the Year by the Wisconsin Association of Child and Youth Care Professionals and received the YWCA’s Empowering Women Award.

file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/tlittle/Desktop/temp/dawn.jpg Dawn Marie Sass, Wisconsin State Treasurer shares her experience of GoRUN. “I think the communications training I received at Go Run is really what made the difference for me.   Afterward, I got up and gave the most empassioned speech I could about why I was running for this job.  I cannot tell you how many people came up to me and told me that it was the best speech they had ever seen me give.  Enjoy the training….. it made all the difference for me!”

Talia Schank is the Development & Program Coordinator for the Wisconsin Apprentice Organizing Project (AOP), a non profit organization working to build a strong culture of grassroots community organizing for social, economic, racial and environmental justice in Wisconsin.  Talia and AOP are committed to increasing the number of, and relationships among, a diverse group of highly skilled organizers from oppressed and underrepresented communities in Wisconsin.  Talia began her 14 year track record of community activism as a community educator and trainer. As a political organizer, she has worked on a number of electoral campaigns, both candidate and issue-based. Her experience also includes work with Planned Parenthood of WI, the National Youth Advocacy Coalition,  the Sierra Club, Fair Wisconsin, a Congressional Campaign in Florida, and a Gubernatorial campaign in Missouri.
