White House Project Coming to Montrose

Montrose Daily Press

Of the 535 seats in the 110th Congress, only 90 are held by women. The White House Project, a non-partisan, non-profit based in New York City, is trying to increase those numbers, not only in the political arena, but also in business and the media.

The project, which was founded in 1998 by Marie Wilson, helps women around the country get more involved in the community and advance further into their careers. The organization offers training, conferences and support, and it conducts a lot of research on women in leadership roles.

The project will be at the Montrose Pavilion on July 31 to offer training sessions to help women interested in advancing further in politics, business and the media.

Guest speakers include Noelle Hagan, former Montrose mayor and a non-profit consultant who will speak about fundraising. Hagan said she believes the project provides good opportunities to women who want to advance in their careers.

“Women need to know this is an option for them, this is a way that they can do a community service,” she said.
